 He served as chief plastic surgeon in an army field hospital during war time. His expertise in treating critically wounded heroes gave him a unique perspective in the field of plastic surgery. Dr. Blau is Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Westchester Ambulatory Surgical Center (with a staff of about 100 surgeons).
While in Medical School, at age twenty-four, Dr. Blau worked as a registered nurse in a university hospital. This gave him a unique opportunity to experience first hand, and to understand the level of devotion and hard work of the nursing staff.
A very young Dr. Blau was fortunate to collaborate with Professor Isaac Kaplan, M.D., a world renown pioneer, originator and inventor of modern laser surgery at its inception in 1972-1973.
Dr. Blau served as an instructor in the Anatomy Lab at Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York City and at New York Medical College. This kept him on the cutting edge of human anatomy which is of paramount importance in plastic surgery.
 All of these factors have molded Dr. Blau into a highly regarded and skilled surgeon/sculptor/artist in his field. His practice includes celebrities, top professional athletes; some of them travel from as far as other countries to take advantage of his experience and skill in cosmetic surgery. Locally they include Collette Nelson, the national US body builder champion of 2004 and overall body builder world champion 2004, and Terry Scaccio, a triathlete who had the distinguished honor to carry the Olympic Torch in 2001.
 In some instances we emphasize the importance of a second opinion for the undecided patient. This enables her/him to make an educated decision.
